Jin Jun Mei, "Golden Eyebrow", is an exclusive black tea from the Wuyi Mountains, known for its malty and honeyed taste with a fruity aroma of oranges. Picked at an altitude of over 1500 meters before Qingming, this tea offers a luxurious taste experience. Perfect as a gift and a favorite in China.

Jin Jun Mei, also known as "Golden Eyebrow", is a black tea with a malty and honeyed taste, complemented by a subtle fruity aroma of oranges. This tea, picked from wild buds, produces a uniquely rich and full-bodied cup reminiscent of freshly baked wholemeal bread with a drizzle of honey butter. The malty profile of barley and wheat is prominent, while the aftertaste reveals the fine quality of the tea through a fruity aroma of oranges.

Jin Jun Mei comes from Tongmu Village in the Wuyi Mountains, where the famous Lapsang Souchong is also produced. The teas from this region benefit from superior natural conditions. Jin Jun Mei is often considered a more luxurious version of Lapsang Souchong, with a more pronounced honey flavor and is picked at an altitude of over 1500 meters. Unlike Lapsang Souchong, the leaves are not smoked, and they consist of more buds, which gives a more delicate flavor profile. Jin Jun Mei has quickly become popular in China and is often purchased as a gift for friends or family.

The name Jin Jun Mei means "Golden Eyebrow", but in the West it is often called "Golden Monkey", which actually refers to a lower grade of this tea, known as Jin Mao Hou (Golden Monkey). Our Jin Jun Mei loose tea is only harvested before the Qingming Festival each spring. After Qingming, the weather becomes too hot, causing the tea leaves to grow too quickly and lose the rich bud structure characteristic of Jin Jun Mei. The leaves harvested after Qingming are often used to produce Lapsang Souchong.

For this tea, we suggest that you try the traditional Chinese Gong FU style to brew your tea. The idea behind this technology is to use greater proportions of tea leaves for water and very short break times. By using more tea leaves and having very short brewing, you only manage to extract parts of the entire taste spectrum. The tea can then be enjoyed in so -called "sections", which gives a much more nuanced experience. As the taste develops gradually and it is much more leaves, this contributes to a much more intense taste than when brewing in Western style.
