This Bao Zhong is slightly more oxidized which gives the tea a slightly more roasted nutty note while still producing a heavenly florality.

Mostly produced in Taiwan, here we have a Huang Shan Bao Zhong (Pouchong) oolong. This special tea from Huang Shan in Anhui Province, China. Historically, Bao Zhong oolong was produced in China, but was brought to Taiwan at the end of the 19th century and planted in a subtropical jungle near the capital Taipei.

The name "Bao Zhong" itself translates from Chinese to "wrapped variety" and originates from the ancient tradition of wrapping the tea leaves with paper during manufacture. Although this is no longer the case thanks to modern tea production, the name has been preserved.

Compared to its Taiwanese counterpart, this Bao Zhong is slightly more oxidized giving the tea a slightly more roasted nutty tone while still producing a heavenly florality of lilac, gardenia and soft notes of vanilla in early extractions. Later extractions (or brews) reveal notes of clover and minerals. Its character is preserved in many extractions due to the freshness of the leaves and the quality of the craftsmanship.
